An upgrade to Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy
As maybe a lot of you already, I’ve “successfully” completed the upgrade my server to the newest Ubuntu around. It wasn’t that smooth as I expected, but it’s because of my installations of some “self-compiled-software”. For example Pidgin was such one, Tasque – another one. So I’ve decided, to do a complete reinstall…
After recovering all the data from the backup I’ve made before install, I only miss one thingie – mysql database of the blog and the root directory of my webserver. The webserver backup I found in the later archive of reinstallation of apache. But the blog gone. So now I have a brand new WordPress 2.5.1 also. Conclusion: NEVER forget to back up your database, if you run a blog :-)
The Only thing in the new Ubuntu, which I complain about, is that the epiphany browser doesn’t want to import my saved bookmarks. And it also doesn’t want to import my Firefox 3.0 bookmarks. This makes me a little bit sad, because I already got used to it, and now I have to rediscover the power of web with Firefox 3.0.
Alright, that’s all folks for now. I won’t try to rewrite the old stuff again because it was only one post anyway. It was all about image editing program I wrote on the other weekend. About that I’ll write when finishing it to some usable and presentable state.
Stay tuned in, Updates will follow
